Japan assists 112, 4 billion JPY in ODA to Vietnam

On behalf of Japanese and Vietnamese government, Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh and Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Hiroshi Fukada yesterday signed a diplomatic note that Japan will provide official development assistance (ODA) loans for Vietnam.


ODA capital source with costing of 112, 4 billion JPY aims to continue to not only assist Vietnamese government in economic and social infrastructure development but also create favorable conditions for Vietnam in attracting more foreign investors as well as intergating into the region and world economy.


The preferential credit will be used for implementing seven projects, including the North-South Expressway with 31, 32 billion JPY; Thai Binh 1 Thermal Power Plant and National Power Transmission Network Development Project with 9, 87 billion JPY, second phase of Nhon Trach water supply plant with capital of 14, 91 bilion JPY; project of upgrading Can Tho University with 10, 45 billion JPY and others.


Since resuming its ODA to Vietnam in 1992, Japan has become Vietnam’s the largest ODA provider with total capital of 2,500 billion JPY.
