Historical film screening month on Vietnam Television Related image(s)
Vietnam Television has broadcast four historical films on VTV1 channel at 21:35 pm every Sunday in April to mark the 40th anniversary of southern liberation and national unification (April 30th).
The film “Mui Co Chay”(The scent of burnt grass) by director Nguyen Huu Muoi and scriptwriter Hoang Nhuan Cam tells a story of four students at Vietnam National University- VNU Hanoi, namely Hoang, Thanh, Thang and Long, who joined the army during the resistance war against US aggression in 1971.They were trained very fast and then sent to the Quang Tri ancient citadel battlefield. Three of them died in heavy fighting, only Hoang was fortunate enough to return home on national unification day (April 30th, 1975). His experience of the 81 day-and-night fighting in the citadel and Thach Han River area is unforgettable. The film was broadcast on April 5th.
The film “Dung dot” (Don’t burn) by director Dang Nhat is based on a diary kept by army doctor Dang Thuy Tram of the Liberation Army during the most violent wartime on the central province of Quang Ngai ’s battlefields. Tram was killed on the battlefield at the age of 27. Her diary was found by a US soldier who looked after it for 35 years before returning it to her family. The film will be broadcast on April 12th.
The film “Nhung nguoi viet huyen thoai” (The legend makers) by director Bui Tuan Dungtells the story of Vietnamese soldiers who sacrificed their lives to install petrol pipes across the Truong Son trail during the anti-American resistance war. It won the golden lotus prize at the 18th Vietnam Film Festival in 2013. The film will be broadcast on April 19th.
The film “Giai phong Sai Gon” (Sai Gon liberation) is based on a work by writer Hoang Hoa. It reappeared several important historical events whenthe liberation army marched forward Sai Gon city (Ho Chi Minh city at present). The film will be broadcast on April 26th.
