PANO – The Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony on April 21st to receive a certificate recognizing its traditional sitting tug of war in Thach Ban ward, Long Bien district as a national intangible cultural heritage.
The folk game, a ritual part of the Tran Vu Temple Festival, is to pray for good weather for local farmers. It makes a great contribution to cementing social relationship and communal solidarity.
Vietnam is preparing the dossiers on the Thach Ban tug of war game to submit to UNESCO for its recognition of the game as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
