The opening ceremony of the 2015 National Tourism Year
NDO – The 2015 National Tourism Year themed ‘Connecting World Heritages’ was officially kicked off on April 3 in Thanh Hoa province.
The opening ceremony was attended by Former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu; Politburo member To Huy Rua, who is also Secretary of the Party Central Committee and head of the Central Committee’s Organisation Commission; Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu; Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh; as well as of ministries, departments and officials of 16 cities and provinces across the country.
The event also saw the presence of ministers of Culture, Sports and Tourism from Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Germany.
Addressing the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Xung said that the National Tourism Year 2015 themed ‘Connecting World Heritages’ offers Thanh Hoa province an opportunity to introduce historic relics, cultural sites and key tourism sites in the province whilst connecting heritages recognised by UNESCO across the country.
On behalf of Party and State leaders, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam stressed that Thanh Hoa has potentials in tourism as well as good conditions to develop a thriving tourism industry. He highlighted the province’s important role in connecting heritages and supporting tourism in other provinces.
He said that connecting the heritages aimed not only to promote value of world heritages becoming tourism products, but also to promote cultural traditions of Vietnam. He urged local leaders and people, as well as businesses in the province to work together to create a friendly and safe environment for tourism.
On the occasion, Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a propaganda-painting exhibition and a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Ham Rong Victory.
