(VOV) -The US Cable News Network CNN has introduced a number of Vietnam’s propaganda posters during wartime that raged between 1954 and 1975.
The posters will be displayed at an exhibition themed “A Revolutionary Spirit: Vietnamese Propaganda Art from The Dogma Collection” which is scheduled to take place at Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts from April 8 to 22.
Answering CNN’s reporter, Richard Di San Marzano, curator of the Dogma Collection of Vietnamese propaganda art and the upcoming exhibition said that the posters are a historical document but also illustrative of the use of art and development of artists in the country.
Common themes are expelling “foreign invaders” and celebrating military action, such as the shooting down of American planes. National symbols like the lotus flower, as well as the image of Ho Chi Minh are regularly featured
Women were portrayed in the posters in numerous roles, but particularly, and uniquely, said Di San Marzano, as front line fighters.
