NDO/VNA – Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) recently approved a plan for developing a warehousing system at Vietnam-China border posts.

The ministry said the plan is aimed at meeting 80% of the warehousing and logistics demand at border posts by 2025 and 100% of demand by 2035.

Accordingly, the overall target is to develop a synchronous warehouse system with a modern and professional logistics package to meet the regular demand for storage of goods.

The system will help promote import-export activities at the two countries’ border posts.

It will provide important services during the reservation process, such as checking and implementing customs procedures, as well as improving the import-export growth rate at the border posts by 2025.

Minister Vu Huy Hoang has approved the Department of Mountainous Area Trade’s proposal to mobilise capital from all economic sectors for this plan. Of these sectors, enterprises operating in trading and exploiting warehouses and their services will be the key contributors.

Hoang said the department should choose professional companies for building, operating, exploiting and providing the warehousing services. They will be required to have expertise in finance, prestige, branding and should have been in operation for more than three years.

It will also require relevant units to offer cleared land for investors, as well as apply preferential regulations for land rentals.

In addition, suitable financial preferences will be extended during the initial period.
