Vietnam driver showcases ‘flair’ in near head-on crash

It would take a long time for over 30 passengers to forget their journey on board a sleeper bus in southern Vietnam on Monday as it climbed onto the railing of a bridge to avoid a head-on collision with a truck.

A truck was crossing the Lang Sen Bridge in Vinh Thanh District of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho at 4:30 am today when a sleeper bus operated by Phuong Trang Co., a local transport firm, rushed to the bridge in order to get over it first, newswire VnExpress quoted Tran Thanh Tung, a traffic police chief of the district, as saying the same day.

Phuong Trang’s driver, 34-year-old Nguyen Thien Trung, then had to steer his bus to the right side to duck a crash because the bridge is too small for both vehicles to cross at the same time, according to the newswire.

The bus was thus forced to climb onto the railing with its left side leaning against the truck, now nearly getting past the bridge.
