Thousands of visitors flock to tourist destinations during Tet

NDO – Tens of thousands of domestic and international visitors have flocked to tourist destinations across the country during the first three days of the traditional Vietnamese New Year (Tet) holiday.

Over 30,000 tourists came to the town of Sapa in the northern province of Lao Cai within the first three days of Tet. More than 5,000 rooms in hotels and motels in the town reached full capacity, while the number of tourists to Sapa will continue to increase in the next few days. After the Hanoi-Lao Cai Highway was put into operation last year, it has helped facilitate travel from Hanoi and other provinces in the northern delta to Lao Cai.

Thua Thien-Hue province has welcomed over 30,000 visitors during the first three days of the Lunar New Year. The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism targets to serve 75,000 tourists, which includes 40,000 foreigners during the Tet holiday, an increase of over 15% in comparison with the same period last year. Hue Monuments Conservation Centre offered free entrance for tourists to relic sites in the province during the first three days of the Lunar New Year.

In Khanh Hoa province, an estimated 150,000 tourists are estimated to be staying in the locality from the 1st to the 6th day of Lunar New Year. Sightseeing and island tours are among the busiest tourist activities.

Meanwhile, over 60,000 visitors flocked to the coastal city of Vung Tau in the third day of the Lunar Calendar.

Cam Mountain Tourist Complex welcomed over 70,000 visitors over the last several days. The number of visitors has increased by nearly 40% year-on-year, thanks to the recent-inaugurated Cam Mountain cable system.

Over 10,000 visited and offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh at a temple dedicated to him in Luong Tam commune, Mekong Delta-Hau Giang province’s Long My district.
