After 30 years of construction and development, Song Hinh district’s economy continues to develop with the high average growth rate in the period of 2000-2014 at 17.7%; among which, agriculture-forestry increases at an annual rate of nearly 15%, industry-construction at nearly 20%, commerce-service at nearly 24%, in 2014, the average income per person is 16 million dongs/year. The district concentrates on developing the strength in the sectors of breeding cattle and some industrial plants, expanding the area of water rice plants to over 1,614ha with the annual food productivity at 21,365 tons; the area of cassava plants at 8,000ha, sugarcane 4,500ha, cow hear at 17,456, the proportion of crossbred cows is 33%…; a high increase compared with the year 2010. The rubber trees cover an area of 4,200ha, currently there are 2,125ha under exploitation for latex, the average productivity is at 1.65 tons/ha; coffee at 1,400ha, average productivity at 22 piculs/ha and expanding the area of pepper plants to 120ha; farm economy has been constantly developing with 35 farms doing economy efficiently…
Besides the above-mentioned sectors, the district has also paid attention to investing in infrastructure to serve the demand of socio-eco development and the people’s lives with the total capital source in the 2010-2014 period at 340 billion dongs, an increase of 79% in comparison with the 2005-2009 period. So far, the main routes connecting communes and district center have been asphalted, concreted; the national electricity network has been covering 100% of hamlets, villages; 100% of communes, town let have been preserving the national standard on primary education universalization; 100% of medial stations have doctors, which has created favorable conditions in caring for people’s health. The proportion of reducing poor households is at an average of 4.75%/year; from the year 2010 to 2014, 1,130 houses were built for the poor households and policy objects, with the total expenditure at over 18 billion dongs.
During the entire period of formation and development, the Party Committee, government and people of all groups in Song Hinh district have been commended and awarded by the Party, the State with Level 3 Labor Medal; level 2 Labor Medal in 2004; Level 1 Labor medal in 2010; 4 communes were awarded the titles of people’s armed hero…Particularly at the beginning of 2015, Song Hinh district was honorably awarded the level 3 Independence Medal by the State President for the particularly brilliant achievements in labor, creativity, making contributions to the cause of constructing the socialism and protecting the Nation.
