(VOVworld) – A group of 80 overseas Vietnamese have offered incense at the Ben Duoc Martyrs Temple in Cu Chi district, Ho Chi Minh city. The visit commenced the “Homeland Spring” program organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ho Chi Minh city’s People’s Committee on February 7-8.
President Truong Tan Sang will join them to offer incense to Hung Kings at the National Cultural and Historical Park and to President Ho Chi Minh at Nha Rong Wharf on Sunday. The highlight of the event is an art performance on Sunday at Nha Rong Wharf, during which President Truong Tan Sang will extend New Year wishes to Overseas Vietnamese.
Kevin Tran lives in the US: “The program is well organized. I will also meet my friends here. Ho Chi Minh city has experience in organizing big events and a large number of overseas Vietnamese have attended this get-together. The meeting at Nha Rong Wharf is meaningful.”
Professor Phan Thanh from Canada has attended several Homeland spring meetings. “The annual meeting organized by the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an important event. It offers an opportunity for OVs to meet each other. We are living in different countries and states. Although we know each other, we rarely have a chance to meet. I hope this kind of event will be maintained forever.”
This is the first time the Homeland Spring program has been organized in HCM city to commemorate National Reunification Day.
