General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and veteran revolutionary Nguyen Van Hien
NDO – General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong paid a visit on February 15 to Nguyen Van Hien, a veteran revolutionary in the central city of Da Nang.
The Party chief wished Hien, who lost his wife and daughter during the war, good health and expressed hope that the veteran continue to be a bright example for the later generations to follow.
Born in central Quang Nam province, Nguyen Van Hien joined the revolution at an early age and later moved to the north to take up many important posts. In 1975, he went back to the central region and made significant contributions to Quang Nam and Da Nang.
For his part, Hien thanked General Secretary Trong and wished him good health to fulfil the tasks entrusted by the Party and people.
The same day, President Truong Tan Sang offered incense and paid respects to President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 in the Presidential Palace Historical Site.
The State leader expressed his deep gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, a national liberation hero and man of culture.
Later President Sang sent his best wishes to staff of the historical site and reminded them of their great honour in preserving President Ho Chi Minh’s memorabilia, helping Vietnamese people and international friends understand his life and career.
