— President of the Mexican Senate Miguel Barbosa Huerta on Saturday confirmed that the Central American country will participate in the 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) which will be organized in Hanoi in March this year while receiving newly-appointed Vietnamese Ambassador Le Linh Lan in Mexico City.
— Japan will continue its support for Vietnam’s Doi Moi (renovation) policy and its help for the country in human resources training and law making experience sharing, said Ichiro Aisawa, Chairman of the Committee on Rules and Administration of Japan’s House of Representative, at a recent meeting with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Committee for Economic Affairs Nguyen Van Giau in Hanoi.

— The 2015 Earth Hour response program, which calls upon people to save energy to cope with climate change, has been launched in Hanoi. The coming 2015 Earth Hour program will include a 1-hour switch-off ceremony televised live from August Square at night on March 28, 2015 and a number of activities like photo exhibitions on climate change and energy which will be held across the country in March in response to the drive.
— Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Saturday attended a ceremony in the southernmost province of Ca Mau on February 7 to inaugurate $30.9 million Nam Can Bridge spanning over the Cua Lon river and linking Nam Can and Ngoc Hien districts. It is a key part of the second phase of the Ho Chi Minh Highway that runs from the northeastern province of Cao Bang to the southernmost Ca Mau province.
— Major mobile network operators in Vietnam have announced to have already prepared technical solutions, staff and equipment to ensure smooth communication during the Lunar New Year holiday, especially 3G services. Latest statistics from the Ministry of Information and Communications showed that the country has about 130 million mobile phone subscribers and 28 million 3G network subscribers, mostly in large cities.

— The construction of a gas processing plant, part of the Ca Mau Gas-Electricity-Fertilizer Complex, was kicked off on Saturday in the southernmost province of Ca Mau in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The facility, with a daily capacity of processing 6.2 million cubic meters of natural gas taken from gas fields in the southwestern region, is expected to diversify highly-value oil and gas products in the region, ensure the national energy security, and contribute to the local socioeconomic development.
— French products, including cosmetics, perfume, confectionary and beverage were introduced to local people at a fair kicked off on Saturday in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho. The French product fair, jointly held by Lecave del soleil Group and the French business group in Vietnam, and the municipal Department of Industry and Trade at the Can Tho International Exhibition Fair Center, is the first of its kind in the economic hub of the region.
