UNESCO Vietnam Chief Katherine Muller Marin presented the certificate to Ninh Binh province


NDO – A ceremony took place in Ninh Binh on January 23 to receive a certificate from the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) recognising Trang An Landscape Complex as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.


The event was organised by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam’s National Commission for UNESCO (UNESCO Vietnam) and Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee.


Among the guests at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Vu Duc Dam; National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu; Politburo member and Minister of Public Security Tran Dai Quang; Head of the Party Central Committee Office, Tran Quoc Vuong; former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu; former Presidents Tran Duc Luong; former NA Chairman Nguyen Van An; along with some international guests such as international Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavath and representatives of the embassies in Vietnam.


Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam highly appreciated the efforts of Ninh Binh province; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Cultural Heritage Council; as well as scientist and businesses in preserve the Trang An Landscape Complex.


He said that Trang An Landscape Complex is valuable treasure of Ninh Binh residents, Vietnam and the human, thus it needs further protection and promotion.


Over the past time, Ninh Binh province has been urged to increase efforts to become a top tourist destination in Vietnam, in parallel with preserving and promoting the value of Trang An landscape complex, a World Cultural and Natural Heritage.


At the ceremony, UNESCO Vietnam Chief Katherine Muller Marin presented the certificate recognising Trang An Landscape Complex as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage to Ninh Binh province.


On behalf of the leaders of Ninh Binh, provincial People’s Committee Chairman Dinh Van Dien pledged to make further efforts to preserve and promote the value of Trang An landscape complex.


On the occasion, a series of activities were also organised in Hoa Lu, Gia Vien and Ninh Binh city, including an international seminar on heritage preservation, an art exhibition and an introduction of stamp collection on Trang An heritage site.
