NDO – The concluding ceremony of the Vietnamese Year in France took place in Paris on November 3.
Addressing at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung said that this is the first time that Vietnam has been promoted on such a large scale.
The Vietnamese Year in France was programme to mark the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The successful French Year in Vietnam concluded in December 2013 and the Vietnamese Year in France began on February 14 2014 with hundreds of events held relating to politics, economics, trade, education, culture and the arts, according to Ambassador Dung.
Ambassador Dung stressed that the programme promoted Vietnam’s unique features, both traditional and new to French friends. The Vietnamese Year in France was supported by the Vietnamese Government with substantial investment and received positive responses from French partners, friends, social organisations and local authorities.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Mayor of Paris, Bruno Julliard, highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in Paris in particular and in France in general, and expressed his pleasure with over 100 events in the programme.
He also expressed his hope that many activities would continue to be held to promote the relationship between Vietnam and France.
“I believe that the echo of the Vietnamese Year in France will continue to spread to further the relationship between the two countries” noted Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Vu Hong Nam.
