(Cinet)- The annual Hanoi Traditional Craft Village Festival themed “Convergence of Quintessence” will be organized at Quan Ngua Sports Palace from October 9 to 12, in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day.
Over 366 pavilions will showcase a wide variety of wares at this year’s four-day 2014 Hanoi Traditional Craft Village Festival. The organization board has announced over fifteen stalls will feature food items from the Republic of Korea and tourist products from Malaysia, and ceramics, rattan, embroidery items, textiles and folk paintings from Vietnam.
It will be categorised into nine main areas showcasing traditional handicraft items, food, tourism products and folk games performance, according to To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
A spectrum of porcelain, rattan and bamboo products, embroidery, folk paintings and wood carving crafts are to be introduced in the presence of well-known local craftsmen who will show off their excellent skills to visitors.
The cuisine corner will be highlighted by Hanoi’s signature food that will be accompanied by Korean dishes featured at 15 food stalls.
Within the event, a ceremony to honour outstanding craft villages is planned and artists and artisans will stage a series of entertaining art and martial art performances along with folk games for all to enjoy.
The festival aims to preserve and develop traditional craft villages in Hanoi as well as promote their image for tourism purposes.
