VN’s second highest tower to open on National Day

HA NOI (VNS) – Lotte Center Hanoi will have its grand opening tomorrow after five years of construction, making it the second highest skyscraper in the country to come into full operation.

With 65 stories and a total height of 272 metres, Lotte Center Hanoi is second only to the 336-metre Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower which opened in 2012, and has taken second place from the 262.5-metre Bitexco Financial Tower which opened in HCM City in 2010.

During its five-year construction, no workplace accidents occurred.

General Director of Lotte Center Hanoi Lee Jong Kook said the grand opening of the building on the 69th anniversary of Viet Nam’s National Day tomorrow aimed to meet the entertainment and shopping demands of millions of citizens in the capital.

The centre would offer visitors and customers hundreds of luxury hotel rooms, high-end apartments and offices, Lee said.

It would also offer more options for people looking for an entertainment space, shopping mall, spa, restaurants and an observation deck, he added.

Covering an area of 14,000 square metres, the building has had total investment of over US$400 million.

During its construction, the centre has created jobs for about 1.8 million of workers. It plans to generate jobs for nearly 3,000 people after the grand opening.

The Vietnamese staff working at the centre at the moment accounted for 95 per cent and the figure was expected to rise to 99 per cent in the coming time, Lee said.

Lotte Center Hanoi is expected to become a new symbol of Ha Noi’s economy,” he said.

The famous K-pop girl band SNSD, or Girl’s Generation, will join famous Vietnamese singers to attend the centre’s grand opening. – VNS
