A display of sculptures made by Australian and Vietnamese artists, the first of its kind, was launched at Cable Beach in Broome city in the state of Western Australia on September 9.
Under the slogan “Looking towards Asia“, the exhibition is part of the city’s annual Shinju Matsuji cultural festival.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the city’s mayor Graeme Campbell said Broome expects to twin with a Vietnamese city to foster exchanges.
The white marble sculpture “Mermaid on Cable Beach” is considered a highlight, and showcases the skills of sculptors from the central city of Da Nang.
At the end of the 10-day event, the sculpture will be gifted to Broome city as a symbol of friendship between Vietnam and Australia.-VNA
