(VOV) -Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project on preserving, developing and managing heritage sites and a geographical park network in Vietnam.
Under the project, about 25-30 geo-parks will be recognized at national or global level by 2030 in 37 provinces and cities across from the country.
It aims to promote scientific research on geographical heritage preservation, development and management, as well as the completion of policies on geo-park conservation in Vietnam through information dissemination and international cooperation.
A zoning plan will also be drawn up to develop national and global geo-parks and ensure effective use of natural geographical resources, especially in the central and southern regions.
The project will be carried out from 2014 to 2020 in centrally-run cities and provinces namely Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Son La, Hoa Binh, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Thanh Haa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thaa Thien-Hue, Dananf, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Ca Mau, and Kien Giang.
