(VOV) -The Caritas Switzerland (CARSWI), in coordination with the Association for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (AEPD), on September 11 launched a humanitarian project in support of handicapped children in central Quang Binh province.
Under the US$435,000 project, to be carried out in nine communes in Quang Trach, Le Thuy district, and Dong Hoi city, from now till the end of 2016, about 500 children with disabilities will receive aid to access rehabilitation centres and integrate into the community.
It aims to build up a development strategy between the education sector and the healthcare sector to provide better care for children with disabilities.
Quang Binh is known as the province having a high number of Agent Orange/Dioxin victims who are living in poor rural areas. It now has about 45,000 disabled people, including 4,000 children.
