The Hanoitimes – A ceremony marking the 20th anniversary of Ha Long Bay’s recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site will be took place on October 14 in Quang Ninh, according to Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee.
On September 11th, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee met to discuss the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the recognition of Ha Long Bay as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
The event will offer numerous activities such as an international workshop, lectures and photo competitions on Ha Long’s heritage, a conference themed “Maintenance and sustainable development of the World Natural Heritage of Ha Long Bay“, and a talk entitled “Enterprises accompanying the world heritage”
Also to highlight the event, an art program entitled “Maintaining the green of Ha Long Bay forever” on November 1st in Ha Long city will be organized.
Besides, the event aims to call for the preservation and promotion of heritage values, as well as reflect the province’s political, socio-economic, and cultural achievements to the world.
Ha Long Bay is located in Quang Ninh Province in northeast Vietnam, covering an area of 1,553 sq. km and comprising 1,969 islands. On December 17, 1994, the Ha Long Bay was officially listed as a World Heritage site with globally outstanding value in terms of natural landscape by UNESCO.
