The 250th National level Anniversary of poet Nguyen Du’s birth Related image(s)
On August 15th, the Office of the Party Central Committee announced the idea to the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on organizing a 250th National Anniversary of eminent Vietnamese poet, Nguyen Du’s birth. Accordingly, the central province of Ha Tinh will coordinate the relevant agencies to organize seminars; distribute publications about Nguyen Du and the Tale of Kieu; shoot documentary films on Nguyen Du’s life and career and the Nguyen Tien Dien family; organize contests to study Vietnamese culture and recite the Tale of Kieu; organize the Nguyen Du culture and tourism week in Ha Tinh Province and several other locations around the country. Nguyen Du (1766-1820), a revered Vietnamese poet, is widely known for his hallmark “Truyen Kieu” (The Tale of Kieu), and was recognized by the World Peace Council as one of the world’s cultural celebrities in 1965. The Tale of Kieu has been translated into over 20 languages including French, Russian, English, Chinese, and most recently Korean, and is highly appreciated for its creativity, independent thinking, and promotion of Vietnamese culture./. |
