Russian man found dead in Vietnam hotel; police probing cause

Vietnamese police are looking into the death of a Russian man which was discovered on Monday in the central province of Khanh Hoa.



Alexandr Tolstik, 41, was found dead in Room 503 on the fifth floor of Golden Beach Hotel at 109 Nguyen Thien Thuat Street in Nha Trang City, the provincial capital, police said.



A hotel housekeeper reported his death as she opened the room door after knocking on it many times but getting no answer.


Tolstik lay dead with his face down in his bed, the hotel staff said.


Police examined the scene and found a spot of blood in the foreigner’s mouth.


On Monday afternoon, the Khanh Hoa Department of Foreign Affairs informed the Russian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City of the Russian man’s death.


The department is coordinating with provincial police in investigating the cause of the death.
