Nhan Dan Online – The Military Zone 5 High Command on August 5 hosted a ceremony to mark the upgrading of the Ba To memorial site at Ba To Uprising Museum, in the central province of Quang Ngai.
With the purpose of turning the site into a venue for important socio-political activities and education on patriotism, the Military Zone 5 High Command, in co-ordination with Quang Ngai province, started a project to upgrade the site in early April, 2014.
The project, which was completed on July 25, 2014 had total investment of over VND5 billion (nearly US$234,000).
The Ba To uprising 69 years ago was considered a major contribution to the nation’s victorious August Revolution in 1945, which led to the nation’s independence on September 2 the same year.
The success of the Ba To uprising gave birth to the first revolutionary regime in Quang Ngai and Ba To guerrillas played a key role in forming the revolutionary armed forces in the central region and the Vietnam People’s Army.
