Australian Government’s direct aid programme launched

The Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi MInh City on August 13 formally launched the Australian Government’s Direct Aid Program (DAP) for projects in southern Vietnam (from Da Nang southwards).

DAP provides grants for small-scale development projects, about 10,000 USD each, with the aim of addressing humanitarian hardship and advancing developmental outcomes for disadvantaged communities.

The deadline for applications is October 10 and DAP guidelines and application form are available at http://bit.ly/Vki2Pa.

According to the Australian Consulate General, DAP is part of the Australian Government’s large-scale non-refundable aid programme in Vietnam, which will provide about 141.3 million AUD (131.3 million USD) for the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

In the 2013-2014 fiscal year, the agency provided 130,000 AUD (120,820 USD) for 11 projects in different areas ranging from health care to education and infrastructure.-VNA
