Nhan Dan Online – The 2014 Asia – Europe New Music Festival is scheduled to be held in Hanoi and Ha Long city, in Quang Ninh province from October 8-12, with the participation of nearly 200 composers from 30 countries around the world.


The music event will also attract well-known Vietnamese artists such as violist Bui Cong Duy, conductor Le Phi Phi and Vu Nhat Tan.


The festival will feature a series of concert in various genres, including symphonic music, auditorium, traditional music, opera, ballet, chorus and youth music.



A symphony programme will open the festival at 7.30pm at Hanoi Opera House on October 8. Then, two programmes on Vietnam and international music will be performed at the Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) on October 9-10. Another programme will be held in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on October 11 to offer youth music and traditional performances and the festival will conclude with a gala concert at Hanoi Opera House on October 12.


The festival is considered as the meeting place of outstanding composers and performing artists and a venue for the exchange of professional experiences.


On this occasion, musicians and artists have a chance to acquire the quintessence of new music, promote their nations’ contemporary music and contribute to enhancing the partnership, co-operation and cultural development between Vietnam and Asian-European countries.


This is the first time the Asia – Europe New Music Festival will be held in an Asian country.
