Almost 30 journalists from many countries and territories around the world made a two-day fact-finding tour to the UNESCO-recognized Hoi An old town in central Vietnam on July 11 and 12.
The foreign reporters come from big media outlets in South Korea, Japan, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Russia, France, Germany, Italy, and Singapore.
The tour was part of the “Exciting Vietnam” campaign launched by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to promote Vietnamese tourism to the world.
The fact-finding tour was designed to help the journalists learn about tourism products in Hoi An.
They were also given opportunities to watch traditional art performances and to visit ancient houses, relics, trade villages, and other tourist attractions in the town.
In 1999, Hoi An was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences.
The old town was voted by UK tourism magazine Wanderlust in early 2013 as the world’s best tourism city.
