A board member of Vietnam’s top technology company has resigned from his post and left the company to invest in start-ups after over two decades working for it.
Truong Dinh Anh, 44, stepped down as a member of the Board of Directors of FPT Corp, an IT leader in Vietnam, after his resignation was ratified early last month, the Vietnamese company said Wednesday in a press release.
Anh has quit the company following this resignation and will begin investing in start-up projects.
The man started working as a computer expert for FPT in 1993 and acted as its general director from 2011 to 2012.
He was appointed as a board member in 2004 and took on many important roles at FPT, such as the general director of FPT Internet Center and FPT Telecommunications Co from 1997 to 2009.
Anh is the founder of FPT Telecommunications, which earns the largest revenue for FPT Corp.
He sold 1.2 million FPT shares in October 2013, over one year after leaving the post of general director in September 2012.
According to Anh’s profile on LinkedIn, he currently works as a private investor who is investing in potential projects such as money transfer services through mobile phone platforms at MoMo.vn and ATAMS fund.
Anh is also the founder of the first Intranet of Vietnam – Tri Tue Viet Nam (Vietnam Intelligence) – and one of the founders of VnExpress.net, a popular newswire in Vietnam.
FPT Corp reported VND28.6 trillion (US$1.36 billion) in revenue in 2013.
Established in September 1988, the firm is among the largest listed enterprises in the country with market capitalization as of February 2014 reaching VND17.6 trillion ($827.2 million), according to Vietnam Report 500 by Vietnam Report Co.
