A national piano festival which aims at offering young piano enthusiasts an ideal playground to show their talent and passion for music will run nationwide from late July to early August.

Besides eliciting participants’ passion for classical music, the 2014 National Piano Festival, which will be organized from July 26 to August 3, is also considered a great chance for young people from 6 to 18 years old to gather and compete with each other to display their aptitude.

The fest’s first round will be held on July 26 and 27 while the second and final rounds are scheduled for August 2 and 3, respectively, in which participants have to perform several well-known masterpieces of world-renowned song writers including Frédéric François Chopin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven.

Three rounds will all take place in the capital city of Hanoi.

Contestants selected to join the final round will have to sit opposite each other to play a song together, which is a new feature that the 2012 and 2013 festivals did not have.

Speaking at the fest’s press conference held on June 1, Vietnamese song writer Ngoc Thuan asserted that the event is among several shows which offer young people knowledge and skills on classical music. It also hopes to provide audiences with a better understanding of the field.

After the success of the 2012 and 2013 events, this year is the third time the National Piano Festival has been organized.

Like the previous years, the 2014 fest will welcome famed classical music artists and pianists as jury members, including Dao Trong Tuyen, Tam Ngoc, Trang Trinh, and Tuan Nam.
