Vietnam opens its first tourism office in Japan

VietNamNet Bridge – The representative office of Vietnamese travel firms opened today, June 4, by the Vietnam Tourism Association in Tokyo, Japan. This is the first overseas representative office of Vietnam tourism.

The office is established to not only assist Vietnamese and Japanese tour operators to attract tourists but also help State agencies on tourism management and provinces in Vietnam to promote tourism in this market.

The opening of the office in Tokyo will contribute to realize the two countries’ plan to raise the number of Japanese tourists to Vietnam to one million in the coming years.

Japan is one of the most important markets of Vietnam tourism. Last year Vietnam welcomed over 600,000 Japanese tourists (ranking third in Vietnam) while Japan received over 85,000 Vietnamese tourists (up 55% compared to 2012).

Japan has been preparing to exempt visas for tourists from Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is considered one of the initiatives of the revised action plan to turn Japan into a tourism-oriented country.
