(VOV) -As many as 12 Vietnamese passengers and one Thai driver lost their lives in a road traffic collision, when a chartered minibus crashed head-on with a trailer truck in Thailand’s Chaiyaphum province on June 2.
The accident caused the van to be engulfed with fire at around 5:30am in Chaiyaphum, about 500km north-east of Bangkok, injuring three other Vietnamese passengers.
The Vietnamese fatalities included seven men and five women. Three severely injured passengers were rushed to the near-by hospital.
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Keaen sent two diplomats Nguyen Anh Duc and Hoang Kim Quang to work with Thai authorities on providing aid to the victims.
Hoang Kim Quang said that the crashed minibus was among four others carrying 65 Vietnamese to Bangkok to take part in an exchange programme with a charitable Catholic organization in Nong Bua Lamphu province.
