On June 23, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee to organize a meeting with twenty families representing the coast guard and fisheries surveillance forces.


The representatives came from Hanoi, the northern port city of Hai Phong, the northern provinces of Hai Duong and Thai Binh, the central city of Da Nang.


They were also invited to attend various cultural activities for the Family Day celebration in Hanoi under the theme “Family Meal with Love and Compassion“.


At the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh presented gifts to representatives. The Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front and Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union also gave presents and scholarships to children of Vietnamese coast guard and fisheries surveillance forces.


The meeting was held to share sentiments and responsibilities of families whose members are on their duty to protect national sovereignty over border, sea and islands.


On this occasion, the “Le Khao Le The Linh Hoang Sa” (Feast and Commemoration Festival for Hoang Sa soldiers), will be organised by fishermen from Ly Son island, Quang Ngai province, in tribute to the men enlisting for the flotilla patrolling the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos to tap natural resources and defend the nation’s sovereignty./.
