(CPV) - As many as six teams will compete in a much-awaited international women's volleyball tournament (VTV Cup) in Bac Ninh province from May 17-24.



The host Vietnam will face foreign teams are Thailand, Australia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan, and Yunnan of China in a round-robin format to select the best four ones to the semi-finals.



Fans will have chance to directly witness the performances by international stars like Palova Yelena (Kazakhstan), Inoue Kaori (Japan), Chen Jing (China), and Kanthong Malika (Thailand).


This tour is a good chance for the Vietnam women’s national volleyball team to practice it skills and tactics, thus readying for the upcoming Asiad 17.


The Bac Ninh province Gymnasium has already installed additional around 1,000 seats (compared to its initial 2,400 seat capacity) with other international standards in carpet and lighting system.


Ticket for the qualifying round is VND50,000, the semi-final day is VND100,000; and the final day (matches for the 3rd place and the champion) is VND150,000.


The organizing board said that the champion will get USD10,000 prize in cash, while the runner-up will pocket USD7,000. Besides, Most Valuable Player (MPV), Best Spiker, Best Blocker, Best Server, Best Setter, Best Receiver, Best Libero, and Miss Volleyball will also receive USD300 each.


Last year’s event was held in the northern province of Ninh Binh. Vietnam finished second after losing to China’s Jiangsu team (25-21, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19) in the final match./.
