Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested two local men who provided fake documents for use in applying for visas to the U.S. at a price of up to US$700 per visa granted since late 2013.

On March 18, when Dan and four others were talking in front of the consulate general, police officers intercepted and escorted them to their office for questioning.
Police seized five counterfeit passports, two fake business registration certificates, and many false seals from Dan.
The man told police that the four other people were his customers who were seeking visas to go to the U.S. for travel purposes. They are Nguyen Lap, 33, Tran Danh Thang, 37, Vu Thi Trinh, 32, and Tran Van Dung, 33.
Lap, Thang, and Trinh are all from central Nghe An Province, while Dung hails from the northern province of Ha Tinh.
Dan confessed to police that these four people had convinced him to produce false documents they required to be eligible for visas.
These people gave Dan their passports, certified résumés, and five photographs, and the man then hired Thinh to forge business registration certificates, invitations to various events in the U.S., including exhibitions, and other necessary documents.
Dan charged $700 per visa granted to those who used his fake documents. In the event that someone who used his counterfeits failed in their visa interviews, he charged $200 in service fees.
He paid Thinh $200 as a lump sum payment for faking all documents required for each U.S. visa file.
Since late 2010 to his arrest, Dan had asked Thinh to forge documents needed for about 200 visa applications, but Thinh had yet to complete all of these documents.
Thanks to Dan’s testimonies, police arrested Thinh on March 18 at his home in Binh Chanh District.
Police also said they are handling 26 people who have worked as visa brokers outside the U.S. Consulate General.
