On May 14, a delegation of UNESCO experts, domestic and foreign scholars and delegates participated in a seminar on preservation and promotion of Vi Giam folk values in modern society.



The event featured a visit to experience activities for teaching of the arts at Phu Viet club in the central province of Ha Tinh.


Participants enjoyed four performances of the arts in the community. Artisans had an opportunity for exchange with domestic and foreign experts and scholars on the preservation and promotion of the arts. This was also an opportunity for international friends to gain better understanding of the land of the Phu Viet club, which is rich in cultural and revolutionary tradition.


A seminar on preserving and promoting folk values in modern society has been organized over two days on May 14-15. It was held by the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies and Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh.


The event is a drive for the compilation of a dossier on Vi-Giam folk singing for UNESCO recognition as a world intangible cultural heritage.


The seminar draws the participation of experts in heritage, artisanship, cultural management and representatives from the two provinces.


Vi-Giam singing features two types of folk music from the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh, often reflecting the working and cultural lives of people in the coastal provinces. These arts are treasured cultural heritage that feature vocalists singing in a call and response pattern./.
