(Cinet)- Two ceramic mosaic paintings entitled “Truong Sa – Vietnam’s Strength” and “Truong Sa army and people are determined to safeguard national sovereignty over seas and islands” are inaugurated on Viet Nam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) Island on May 13.

The works are the output of a group of artists, including Nguyen Thu Thuy, Nguyen Hoang Tung, Trinh Ba Quat and Do Nhu Diem.

The first painting, entitled “Truong Sa – Vietnam’s Strength”, is 4.8m high and 20m long. The painting features nine figures representing different social backgrounds and armed forces standing together to illustrate national solidarity, which has been preserved and upheld from generation to generation throughout the nation’s history.

The work’s focal point depicts a boy with a bright smile holding a white dove, which symbolises Vietnam’s aspiration for peace.

The second painting, which is a reproduction of a propaganda painting, includes a text which reads: “Truong Sa army and people are determined to safeguard national sovereignty over seas and islands”.

The two paintings, installed symmetrically on the wall of the island’s wharf, are made up of nearly one million ceramic pieces, which had to be fired at temperatures of over 1200 degrees Celsius in order to protect the works against harsh weather conditions.
