A kindergarten boy died of brain injuries in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 9 on May 19 when a concrete slab in a primary school where he and his friends were visiting fell on him.
The boy and two other children from Son Ca Kindergarten were watching a map in the outdoor library of Nguyen Minh Quang school when the accident happened at around 9 a.m.
The slab, measuring 1.1 by 1.5 meter, fell on him, make him fall and and hit his head against the floor, witnesses said.
He was rushed to Cho Ray Hospital but succumbed to traumatic brain injuries.
The visit was among activities organized to help kindergarten children get familiar with the primary school which they will attend in the coming school year.
The boys’ parents, however, said that they had not been informed about the school tour.
When the accident happened, teachers and all other children had left the library. The teachers admitted they didn’t notice that three kids were still in the library, but claimed they were too busy handling other children.
Police said they are investigating the case.
