(CPV) – The two goals scored by Le Thu Thanh Huong helped Vietnam to defeat Jordan 3-1 in the 2014 AFC Women’s Asian Cup match.

This match also counts towards 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup qualification.

This match plays an important role for both sides, aiming for a spot in the fifth-placed match. Consequently, both teams were very active on the grass.

After some inactive minutes of the first-half, the Vietnamese girls had refreshed themselves, showing power on ball possession in center field even in the rain.

Vietnam's pressure finally came good as the opening goal scored by half-back Nguyen Thi Muon happened in the 18th minute after a free-kick by Kim Hong. This goal created a strong impetus for the team, apparently releasing an obstacle in their mind.

Then, the Jordanian rivals surprisingly balanced the score in the 32nd minute, starting from a simple swing to the top corner of the wooden frame controlled by goalie Kieu Trinh.

However, two minutes later, students of Chinese coach Chen Yun Fat showed their strength from fixed-position. Le Thu Thanh Huong used her head to send the ball into the top corner, raising the score to 2-1. The goal motivated the team, especially in the defending area, thus creating a lot of challenges for Jordan in deploying their tactics and skills.

Entering the second-half, the Vietnamese side controlled the game while its rival could only contribute with fixed-events. Player Salim’s head nearly re-balanced the game in the 77th minute when she sent a difficult ball into the wooden frame after a corner.

In the 85th minute, taking full advantage over the Jordanian defence, Le Thu Thanh Huong entered the penalty area and lightly kicked the ball over the goalie’s head. The score was finally 3-1.

As a result of the win, Vietnam is currently placed 3rd in the group, anticipating the fifth-round match against the 3rd ranking team in the B group for a place at the final round of 2015 World Cup.

The Vietnam Football Federation VFF also presented VND300 million for the team./.
