Contraband seized at Tan Son Nhat airport

(VOV) – Customs officers working with local police on May 13 arrested two Vietnamese passengers aboard a flight preparing to depart Tan Son Nhat Airport, seizing a significant amount of foreign currency.


Police identified the two suspects as C.A.V, 22 years old, in possession of US$20,000 and Nguyen Tan Hung, 37 years old, with US$40,000.


The suspects were preparing to board a flight to the Philippines.


The HCM City Customs Department handed the suspects over to Tan Binh District’s police for further investigation.



Meanwhile, customs officers also detected a shipment sent from China to an individual in HCM City, which included prohibited cargo of three metal 1.1 meters long swords and 11 sets of electronic devices capable of interfering with telephonic waves.


These items belong to the list of prohibited weapons and possession of them is considered a serious violation of national security and social order.
