Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep on May 5 held a press conference on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.

The May 7, 1954 triumph not only put an end to the French colonial rule for over eight decades in Vietnam but also gave inspiration to independence movements in other colonies, the diplomat said.
He spoke at length about the causes of the historic victory as well as its significance to Vietnam and the world at large.
The lessons of the Dien Bien Phu battle still keep their value in peaceful time, he said.
The Ambassador also took this occasion to introduce Vietnam’s economic situation to Algerian reporters.
He underlined the bilateral friendship between the two countries and confirmed that Vietnam is always a good friend of Algeria.-VNA
