Summer Book Fair to kick off

The 2013 Summer Book Fair attracting many readers

Nhan Dan Online – The 2014 Summer Book Fair is scheduled to take place from April 16 -20 at the Vietnam Women’s Museum in Hanoi, as part of activities to honour reading culture.

The fair will feature around 4,500 titles of various genres – focusing particularly on new titles for women and children – and will include exchanges with famous Vietnamese writers and translators, such as Do Bich Thuy, Nguyen Bich Lan and Phong Diep.

The ‘Building Bookcases for Women and Family‘ campaign of the Vietnam Women’s Union will be launched at the event, a highlight of this year’s fair. Additionally, the organising board of the fair will also offer a large number of books to women in remote and disadvantaged areas.

Two promotional programmes will be introduced on promoting reading culture. Publishers taking part in the fair plan to offer discounts of 20-50% on all books, while recently published books can be purchased at steeply discounted prices, from VND5,000 to VND35,000.

The fair, organised by the Vietnam Women’s Museum, Women’s Publishing House and Kim Dong Publishing House, opens from 8:00 to 21:30 at 36 Ly Thuong Kiet Street, Hanoi.
