Hue bustling with cultural activities

Nhan Dan – Hue ancient city is now bustling with visitors to various cultural and arts activities organised for Hue Festival 2014.

A gathering of over 600 bird feeders across the country was held on April 13, featuring 600 red-whiskered bulbuls and around 100 white-eye birds.

The same day, thousands of locals and visitors flocked to Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy town to attend a rural market. Manual agricultural production practices were demonstrated at the four-day market, such as flour milling, rice husking, rice pounding, rice screening and traditional cake making.

Also on April 13, a street carnival entitled ‘Heritages and Cultural Colours’ was held in Hue city. Nearly 20 art troupes from East Asian and Latin American countries moved through the streets with exciting music and beautiful dances.

The Amigos, a well-known jazz band from the US, held free concerts at the Dai Noi (Royal Palace), the Hue Central Hospital, and the Thua Thien – Hue provincial Adolescent Centre from April 12-14.

Tourists can explore the natural beauty, architectural heritage and cultural practices of the ancient city in the early 20th century through hundreds of photos on show at the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre.

Meanwhile, documents reviewing the establishment and development of Hue city since the 17th century are being exhibited at the Hue Culture Museum.

An international photo exhibition is being held at the pedestrian space in Nguyen Dinh Chieu street, showcasing 180 pictures by artists from 51 countries and territories around the world.

The three displays will run until April 20.
