(Cinet) – The MOCST collects to a master project to protect and develop some values of “Don ca tai tu” arts in some provinces and cities.


Minister Hoang Tuan Anh informed National Action Program to protect ” Don ca tai tu ” arts in 2014-2020 periods at the honouring ceremony of “Don ca tai tu” arts as intangible cultural heritage of humanity.


The MOCST proposed that Provincial People’s Committees in HCM city, Can Tho, Binh Phuoc, Binh Duong, Ninh Thuan, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Long An, Dong Thao, Tien Giang, An Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang, Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau direct Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to build detail proejct to protect and develop intangible cultural heritage of ” Don ca tai tu” arts.


Since long ago Don ca tai tu (Amateur singing) in southern Vietnam has been rooted in the cultural and spiritual life of the southern people. On December 5, 2013 the art of Don ca tai tu was officially recognized as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity by UNESCO. This is also the first time that a form of traditional folk music in the south has been recognized as a world heritage.


The Don ca tai tu art has all the criteria to become an intangible cultural heritage of humanity required by UNESCO. These criteria include: having a vast cultural influence and unique artistic value, being unmistakable with any other type of music and most importantly, having a strong vitality and currently flourishing in the southern provinces.
