(CPV) - The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam will provide around VND20 billion (USD476,200) for the Vietnam’s female national football squad during the 2014-2016 period, said the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on Arpil 11.


This financial source will be spent for accommodations, meals, domestic and international training, and awards. In which, the Bank focuses on helping them to win a ticket for FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015 in Canada (between June 6 and July 5) after attending the Asian Cup 2014 which will kick off on May 14 in Ho Chi Minh city.


Earlier, the team's SEA Games silver-medal-winning performance earned VND1.5 billion in prize money, an additional VND1.5 billion diverted from the U23 men's team, and VND300 million BIDV.

Currently, head coach Chen Yun Fat and his students are traveling for training in China and Korea.


From the third place at the 19th SEA Games in Indonesia in 1997, Vietnamese girls won gold at the 21st SEA Games in Malaysia in 2001.


In the past decade, they have proved themselves a capable team in Asia, following only those from Japan, China, Australia, the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.


According to the quarterly FIFA/Coca-Cola women’s world ranking issued on March 28, the team now ranks the 28th position with 1,664 points. The next ranking will be released on June 20./.
