The programme, part of 2014 Hue Festival, featured more than 100 artists, including many ‘predecessors’ of Hue folk music, such as artisan Thanh Tam and the meritorious artists Khanh Van, Thu Hang, Kieu Oanh and Dinh Dung.

The over one-hour programme delighted audiences with unique performances of Hue folk songs which were integrated with lively scenes.

At the programme, the leaders of Thua Thien-Hue province presented gifts to 30 artists who have had a more than 30-year dedication to this traditional art form.

Numerous activities also took place during the programme to show gratitude to artists including floral presentations, invitations to drink tea and an escort from their seats to the stage.

Earlier on April 15, the delegates and artists offered incense and flowers to the ancestors of Hue folk music at the worship house of this art form and visited older artists.

This was the first time the Hue folk music programme was held within the framework of Hue Festival, but it left a deep impression on visitors.

The arts programme is expected to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the Hue traditional cultural identities, especially its folk music.

The People’s Artist Ngoc Binh invites artisans to drink tea.
