In the morning of 10 October 2014, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ngo Hoa gave a courtesy reception to the Mission of Fred Hollows Foundation led by Ms. Joy Savege, Member of FHF’s Management Board.
At the reception, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expressed his gladness to receive the Mission. At the same time, he thanked for FHF’s enthusiastic support in building and developing Hue Eye Hospital with projects to enhance the capacity of eye care having the total value of 1 million US dollar in the period 2006- 2012 and he revealed that especially in the year 2013 FHF would assist Hue Eye Hospital in the project “Developing the comprehensive eye care for Vietnam in Thua Thien Hue” in the period of 2013- 2015 with the expenditure of 2.7 billion dong.
FHF’s assistance has had an important contribution in thetransfer of modern technologies and facilities and the enhancement of professional capacity the provincial health cadres in the past period. Especially, the project assisted to carry out free operations for patients with eye diseases and performed well the program of child eye care not only in Thua Thien Hue province as well as the Northern Central region.
Stand Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee expected to receive more assistance from FHF so that Thua Thien Hue could perform well the work of blindness prevention and eye care for people.
Ms. Joy Savege showed her gladness and appreciated the effectiveness of projects aided by FHF in Thua Thien Hue province for the past period, making a big change in eye treatment and care and also affirmed that FHF would continue the work of blindness prevention and eye care in Thua Thien Hue province.
