Indian Cultural Week kicks off in Ho Chi Minh City

Nhan Dan – A wide variety of Indian cultural activities are scheduled for the Indian Cultural Week that kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on March 7.

The highlight of the week is the Buddhist Festival at Pho Quang pagoda from March 7-10 with an exhibition themed ‘Dharma Darshan’ displaying 50 paintings and pictures related the life of the Buddha, cultural activities by Vietnamese Buddhist monks and sacred Cham dances by Indian Buddhist monks.

Yoga instruction and performances are also scheduled, as well as Indian folk dancing, an Indian traditional food festival and a Mehendi performance (the art of body painting).

The Indian Cultural Week aims to introduce Vietnamese people to the many different sub-cultures of India to strengthen the friendship between the two nations.

In addition to Ho Chi Minh City, the Indian Cultural Week, which will last through March 15, also comes to Hanoi and Da Nang City.
