Hoi An State employees to commute by bike

State employees in Hoi An City, from middle of this month, will cycle to work, about 10 days earlier than the city had intended.

The aim of the plan is to make Hoi An to the first eco-tourism city in Viet Nam and has the support of the local community.

As part of the plan nearly 4,000 locals will go to work by bicycle.

HCM City adjusts bus drivers’ code of conduct

The director of HCM City’s Department of Transportation Tat Thanh Cang has met with more than 50 bus drivers from the city’s Bus Co-operative Alliance to adjust their style of work, especially those who violate speed regulations causing accidents. The department said recent deaths of pedestrians due to poor driving by bus drivers, has caused animosity against bus drivers.

Cang said that the department has set up an investigation team to examine driving certificates, health of drivers, and bus quality. He also said that drivers who violate transport laws will be severely punished especially, those driving at high speeds.
