The 2nd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on April 2-5, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Member countries of MRC including Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand with dialogue partners China and Myanmar will join the event.
The conference affirms the cooperation commitment on sustainable water resource management, economical growth, poverty reduction and natural resources protection in the region.
Delegates will discuss regional and global issues of common concern, such as water, energy and food security, risk management and climate change in basins spanning boundaries, said Le Duc Trung, Chief of the Office of the Vietnam National Mekong Committee.
A joint statement will be announced at the end of the event.
The first Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit was held in Hua Hin, Thailand in 2010 marking the 15th anniversary of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Sustainable Development of the Mekong River Basin, also known as the 1995 Mekong Agreement.
