Nhan Dan Online – The main component of a project to supply power for Ly Son Island in the southern province of Quang Ngai is to be undertaken in August by Italian Prysmian Group and the Thai Duong Power Construction Ltd.
The contract was signed at a ceremony in Da Nang city on February 28.
Accordingly, the VND572 billion (US$27 million) package covers the designation, materials and installation of a 26.2km-long submarine power cable, which will connect Ly Son Island to the national grid. Also covered are engineer training and the cable’s pilot operation. The installation is to be completed in a month.
The package is part of a VND625 billion (US$29.4 million) project approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2013 to supply power to Ly Son Island. The project provides for a 9km medium voltage line on the mainland and the 26.2km submarine cable.
The whole project will be completed by the end of the year, and will supply power to the island, contributing to its cultural, economic and social development and maintaining security, national defence and sovereigty.
