According to Dak Lak police, a local man went to the forest at about 6am on March 13 to check his fishing net in a stream. He found a pair of pants and four pairs of sandals on the stream bank. He also saw a human arm sticking up from a nearby sand dune. The man immediately informed the police.


The police searched the site and discovered the bodies of five people, who were described as three students of the Tran Hung Dao High School and two pupils of the Cu Dram Junior High School in Cu Dram commune, Krong Bong district.


They are all H’Mong people, who boarded for study far from home.


Mr. Nguyen Van Dat, from the Tran Hung Dao High School said the three students were absent without permission from March 12.


“We just thought that they stayed home for a few days to help their parents in the field,” Dat said.


Meanwhile, the victims’ parents though that their children were at school.


The police completed the autopsies to clarify the cause.
